July 2009 Display cabinets and wall space, Level Two. (See also ‘Classes and Workshops’). Local History Gallery Visit the Local History Gallery on Level Two to view memorabilia from Brisbane’s past. This display will be ongoing throughout 2009 as part of the Brisbane 150 celebration events. Free film screenings in the Theatrette Salaam: Gossamer Road - Tuesdays throughout July and August 12-2pm. Bob Maza, of the National Black Theatre, brought the issue of race relations to the 1980’s family telelvision screen with wit and satire. Duration: 30 minutes. Rated PG. Black Angels: A widening vision (1994) - Thursday 9 July 1-2pm. In this film Brisbane artist Gordon Bennett asks us, through his artwork to recognise that there is another view of history. Serge Alexandre alias Stavisky, small-time swindler, gets involved in a scam involving millions of francs, when exposed it results in an unprecedented scandal that almost causes a civil war. Prof. Henri Laborit uses the stories of the lives of three 12 people to discuss behaviourist theories of survival, combat, rewards and punishment, and anxiety. Duration: 2 hours and five minutes.
