Renowned performance poet, Ghostboy, presents the Slam workshops to help budding performance poets hit the stage hard armed with freshly sharpened words as part of this year’s national competition. This workshop cover writing for the stage, performance poetry techniques, understanding slam and live writing and performance exercises. *Creativity workshop: How to make a creative journal with Majena Mafe – Saturday 8 August 12.30-1.45pm. Community Meeting Room. In this presentation you will be introduced to a variety of beautiful inspirational journals from artists and designers to show you the benefits of using a journal to tap into your own unique creative potential. Majena Mafe, a creativity mentor and lecturer, will present a range of such journals and discuss both their making and their use for generating, collecting and consolidating creative ‘research’ ideas and material. 12 *Salaam workshop: Bead work and jewellery making – Saturday 8 August 1-2pm. Workshops held at Kangaroo Point and Kuraby in 2008 were the inspiration for these paintings, photographs and the documentary film accompanying the Salaam exhibition.
